Discover the islands where dreams are born – Hawaii! Over 10 days we will drive 4x4 jeeps to the most unexplored corners of Oahu, hike ridges with incredible views – from volcanic craters to the endless ocean – and catch the most vivid sunset. We will kayak to the uninhabited island of Moku Nui, where rare Hawaiian seals rest on the sand, fly in a light Cessna plane over the wild Na Pali cliffs and Waimea Canyon – Hawaii's brother of the Grand Canyon – and try the power of the waves on a surfboard where the sport was born. We will taste fresh fish from the ocean and stay in apartments with panoramic city views and in a cozy house by the beach. Beaches, hikes, stunning views of the green islands of Oahu and Kauai, and emotions and experiences to remember for a lifetime await us.
Meeting at Honolulu airport. Getting to know each other, first photos against the palm trees, check-in in Honolulu. The island wins your heart at first sight: emerald mountains rise right behind the rooftops, and the air is thick with the scent of plumeria flowers. In the evening we watch a magical sunset on the famous Waikiki Beach.
We greet the sunrise at the top of a crater, climbing the stairs of Diamond Head. Honolulu lies below, wrapped in the gold of dawn, and the horizon reveals the island from three sides at once – ocean, mountains and city in one panorama. We spend the second half of the day at Pearl Harbor: the white USS Arizona Memorial above the sunken battleship – a place where every wave beneath your feet is a reminder of the price of peace.
The turquoise Lanikai bay leads our kayaks to the uninhabited island of Moku Nui. There, on the warm sand, Hawaiian monk seals – one of the rarest species on the planet – sometimes rest. We visit the Byodo-In Temple – a Japanese pagoda at the foot of the Ko'olau Mountains. Towards evening we climb just a few hundred meters along the short Ka Iwa ridge trail, and the whole coast of the island, scattered with bays and reefs, opens up before us – this time from the other side than yesterday from Diamond Head.
The most beautiful hike on the island. We climb the Kuliouou ridge through ferns and dry forest. From the summit the entire south shore of Oahu opens up – from Diamond Head to Honolulu Bay. The second trail follows a steep old railway track up to Koko Head Crater, with a wild garden growing in the volcanic bowl below and the ocean stretching to the horizon beyond. An amazing place! We end the day with a vivid sunset.
The morning belongs to the North Shore – coffee with coconut milk, barefoot steps along the surf, where the biggest waves of the Pacific are born in winter. No routes or plans, just the ocean and time to wrap up. Around midday the island says goodbye from a bird's-eye view. A short flight to Kauai, and by evening a house on a new island awaits us.
Incredible views await us again today. The Wailua River leads deep into the island, and the forested Kuilau Ridge lifts us above the treetops – through ferns and wild ginger – to a panorama of the sacred Mount Wai'ale'ale, one of the wettest places on Earth. From above, the island looks completely different than from the coast: waves of green ridges roll all the way to the horizon.
The landscape changes dramatically at the edge of Waimea Canyon, known as the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific", where layers of red, ochre and green rock descend hundreds of meters into the island. Along the way we stop at beaches and various viewpoints. We taste the famous poke bowls and traditional local food. We spend the evening over dinner in good company.
After a week of active travel, no routes today. Just the warm sand of Poipu Beach, where green sea turtles sometimes rest on the shore, and the legendary coastline Hollywood has filmed dozens of times. Swim, sunbathe, play, surf and think about nothing – that's the whole plan for the day.
We explore the island at a relaxed pace. In the afternoon a small plane lifts off the runway – and within minutes the Na Pali Coast unfolds beneath the wing: emerald cliffs plunging straight into the ocean, waterfalls you can't see from the road or the sea. Only those who rise into the sky get to see Kauai from this angle.
Coffee, silence and Kauai saying goodbye with soft light through the leaves. We hug and share warm emotions and impressions. We plan our next trips together. The suitcases are packed, the road home lies ahead, and in our memory – islands that will stay with us forever.
We drive rented 4x4 cars on both Oahu and Kauai, so we have complete freedom to stop wherever our heart desires. And the most spectacular part of the trip – a flight over the Na Pali Coast and Waimea Canyon in a small Cessna plane – you will experience as a separate adventure, from a bird's-eye view.
On Oahu we stay in apartments with panoramic views of the city and the ocean. On Kauai we move into an amazing house with its own garden just steps from the beach – here the morning starts with coffee on the terrace to the sound of the waves.
You will taste real Hawaiian cuisine – fresh fish straight from the ocean, poke bowls, tropical fruits and various local treats.
