How to Pack a Suitcase for a Week-Long Trip
The art of compact packing: how to fit everything you need in carry-on luggage and avoid extra baggage fees.
Packing a suitcase is a real art that can be mastered with experience. Proper packing will save your time, money and nerves. Here are our proven life hacks for the perfect suitcase.
The first step is to make a list of things — this will help avoid unnecessary items. The "3-3-3" rule: three bottoms, three tops, three pairs of shoes (including what you're wearing). Choose clothes in one color scheme to easily combine things. Roll clothes into rolls instead of folding — this way they will take up less space and wrinkle less. Put heavy things at the bottom near the wheels, light ones on top.
Use every centimeter of space: stuff shoes with socks, put cosmetics bag between clothes. Pour all liquids into mini-bottles and pack in zip bags. Keep documents, money and valuables in carry-on luggage. And remember the golden rule: if you're not sure whether to take something — don't take it. Most likely, you won't need it!
